This time of year, many people feel find themselves in the uncomfortable position of wanting to show friends and loved ones how much they care, while still having enough to pay bills and keep food on the table.
The merchants have taken over this time of year and it can be tempting to go into a place of guilt. Some worry that family and friends will think they are not cared for when there is little material evidence to back it up.
Winter celebrations were created to bring people together in a time of darkness. Rather than cowering in fear of lack and scarcity, they celebrated and shared what they had. They gave thanks for whatever the Divine chose to grace them with in the previous year.
This was a way of saying, “We know that there will be more to come. It is good for us to give and share.”
Give what you can this year. It may be a gift, food, time, talent or just a smile. A simple smile or kind word can travel the globe and do more good than the most expensive of gifts.
If you can’t think of anything to do, consult your Angelic advisors. They will be happy to come up with creative and effective ways that you can give to others.
The original “traditions” of holidays have long been overshadowed by newer, material traditions. You can start new traditions of spreading kindness and hope to those who need it. The smallest act of kindness can save a life.
Give what you can, even if it is only a smile. The hope and inspiration you give is priceless.
