“I Feel so Free, on the Dance Floor” Being your Authentic Self

Over the last few months, I have been hearing many people talking about individuality and being their authentic self. There is a shift happening and it’s a welcome and wonderful change. It has become such a popular notion that Madonna has her first #1 hit single (I Feel So Free) in 18 years and it’s about being yourself. Yet many seemed to be confused about what or rather who that truly is. Our society often gives us roles, labels and expectations to fit into boxes so we can feel accepted. Sometimes we even create our own boxes by using the identities that are put upon us without even realizing. Just like others, there was a time I gave away my power and even parts of my identity to be what others expected. I became trapped in a box that I created and yet it belonged to others. When I made the choice to take back my power, I was left asking myself, “Who am I really?”

What has helped me is to allow myself to experiment and enjoy self-expression. I discovered that my authenticity is not about fitting into one fixed version of yourself. Many people find their authentic self is made up of many layers, interests, and expressions of oneself. So, a part of being authentic is changing things up from time to time. Personally, I would be bored if I stayed the same all the time. Some days I’m drawn to the darker Goth styles that give me a sense of power. Other days I love whimsical flowing clothes that bring me lightness and laughter. Some days I’m more homely wearing jeans or shorts. I find by dressing in a certain way it directs my energy to be also a certain way and is reflected in how I speak and interact with people, without changing who I am on the inside. It also attracts those who might be similar to how I feel at that current moment.

Self-discovery is often one of the first signs of awakening. As you move through that journey, your thoughts, values, and even the way you see life can start to shift. It can feel exciting but also confusing at times, especially when you are trying to figure it all out on your own. Since everyone awakens differently, each person has their own pace, path, and life goal.

That’s why I created my one-on-one mentorship program. I wanted a space where people feel supported, guided, and empowered as they reconnect with their own inner strength and abilities. I have seen participants grow so much as they work through the exercise, spiritual practices, and tools I share with them. Watching them step into their confidence and true power makes me so proud of them.

If you feel you could benefit by diving deeper into your own awakening and authentic self, stop by morganastarr.com for more information and FREE meditations to get you started. I would love to support you on your journey and help you shine in ways you may not even realize are possible.

A great way to explore individuality and your authentic self can be through clothing, make-up, hair, personality, creativity, or the way you move through life. Remember that there is no right or wrong way to be you. You are allowed to grow, shift, and change at any time. True authenticity has no rule book. Be yourself and allow the fun to begin.
